Outbreaks of human diseases associated
with the consumption of raw fresh fruits and vegetables have increased
over the past decade. Fruits and vegetables can become contaminated with
micro-organisms capable of causing human disease while still on the plant
in the fields or orchards, during harvesting, transport, processing and
distribution.
The AgriPure
system achieved a 3.5 log reduction of
micro-organisms. The use of chlorine in conjunction with the
AgriPure
system will achieve additional reduction of micro-organisms.
